Understanding pre & post Pregnancy

Pregnancy is such an exciting time in a woman’s life and one that signals a lot of emotional and physical change. Growing a new life greatly increases the body’s workload. Fatigue, the destabilising of joints and ligaments caused by hormonal changes and inevitable change in weight distribution during pregnancy can lead to a range of symptoms affecting the musculoskeletal system.


Some of the symptoms you may be experiencing are:

  • Leg cramps

As your baby grows, there is an exaggerated curvature in the spine known as a lumbar lordosis. This occurs to maintain balance and stability as your body weight shifts This is the reason pregnant women so commonly complain of back pain.

We can also assist in exercises which will keep you moving and place your body in a stronger position for birth and beyond.


Post pregnancy


We understand that new mums always put themselves last but it’s vital that you take some time out for yourself. Our post pregnancy care plan will provide much needed relief in those first few months as you adjust to motherhood.


We will work with you to uncover the underlying causes of your pain and provide solutions to restore functionality and mobility throughout your body, decrease pain and discomfort and get you moving!  We understand and recognise that no two people are the same and focus our  treatments to meet your specific needs. Our focus is on relieving your aches and pains and  helping you regain a strong, resilient body which will withstand the demands of caring for a baby.


We begin with an initial consultation to discuss all aspects of your health and wellbeing to establish a solid foundation to work form. An assessment of the problem and surrounding areas will assist in uncovering important information to move forward with and develop your treatment plan. Hands on myotherapy and massage table work will form an important part of this plan and then, if necessary, we will also look at movement patterns and functionality, restoring your body in the gym if part of your tailored solution.
